Welcome to R&R Sugar Loaf Farm Hog Page

Picture
Robert showed and raised pigs while growing up in 4-H.

His family would raise them out for meat as well.

As we grew our family we found that raising our own meat, and knowing where it came from was something that was a priority.
Some years we would raise just one or two, and others we would raise out several more for other family members.

Eventually we converted our barn into a pig barn(long before our goats), and our kids started showing the pigs in 4-H.

We did that for several years and were fairly successful at it.

As our older children started to age out of 4-H, so did the pig operation. By that point we had goats and wanted to cut back on the pigs due to many factors.

We have continued to raise out one or two each year for ourselves. But we don't miss the hassle and destructive nature, that those adorable and smelly animals could be at times.

Since our barn is no longer housing pigs, we have started to work on it to be only for the goats.
