We have worked in conjunction with our local County Extension Office, to sponsor the goat essay contest for the Washington County 4-H program for the last four years now.
It started as a way to give back to the community for us. When we started out with goats many years ago, we didn't know what to expect, and there weren't many mentors that we could turn to for help or advice when we needed it. We wanted to change that. So we set a personal standard as breeders to help provide for others. Our future goal is to expand our goat essay contest to include the entire state of Arkansas 4-H and FFA youth for eligibility. After that, we hope to move forward with opening the contest up to all youth that are currently active in 4-H or FFA in the continental 48 US states. The first two years we sponsored a Boer wether, last year in 2024 we moved forward. We are excited to announce that we will be sponsoring an ADGA registered doeling. This is a big step for us and the youth that may enter the contest. Last year went over well! We've decided to sponsor another ADGA registered doeling for the 2025 year.
