Robert and his family have always raised beef cattle on their farm. Naturally when he and Ryan bought their own farm, Robert moved some of his cows over.
When our children were old enough to show cattle at our local county fair, we obliged and purchased two dairy cows. Dragoney Fun Fun is a registered Jersey cow that was shown when she was younger. She is our most people person cow, and throws some very beautiful calves. in 2023 she finally gave us a heifer who the kids named, Moo-Moo.
Moo-Moo will be retained and will be put into our breeding program. She is half dairy and half beef stock. Our other dairy cow is named Clarabelle. She's about a year younger then Dragoney, but is way bigger. Clarabelle is a Holstein cow that has given us a gorgeous heifer, Annabelle. Clarabelle was also shown as a young heifer, but we quickly learned that her back two quarters of her udder aren't show correct, so that ended her show career. She is the only cow that we have, that up until recently would not hardly let a person come near her. She's starting to warm up to people now.
Annabelle is a yearling heifer out of Clarabelle. She's half dairy and half Angus beef breed. We can't wait to see what type of stock she'll bring to our cattle program next year in 2025. She has horns.
Cassie is one of our beef cows, that was born out of Robert's own herd stock and raised here on our farm. She happens to be polled, which is the way we prefer our cattle. She's a great cow and raises a nice steer. This past year she blessed us with a heifer for the first time, Chloe.
Chloe will be retained and eventually be used in our breeding program.
With each calf crop our goal has been to first provide for our family. We do offer some steers up for sale before taking them to the sale barn. We aren't large enough to raise everyone's beef out, nor do we want too. But we do give others the opportunity to buy from the farm where you know what goes into your food. We rarely have heifers and cows available, but if anyone that is interested in purchasing cattle from us, please contact us. We're always open to moo-ving some out to let others stay.
