As our dairy goat herd grew and our Boer herd shrank, and with the choice to bottle raise our goat kids each year. The demand for more milk was needed. We try to raise our goat kids on the goat's milk and not replacer, as some replacers  can cause digestive issues for young goat kids. 
So the introduction to the Alpine does was made. It worked out well, we got the milk supply we needed, and our children got to show the taller dairy goats. When you have giant tall boys who break their backs to show a little bitty Nigerian Dwarf kid in the show ring it makes sense to have a few standards on the farm. 

We don't have but a small number of the standard does, but we love them just the same as if they were a dwarf breed.
